The local council also acts as the local plumbing and drainage authority, and they are responsible for inspecting the area where the plumbing is proposed. You must contact the authority to book an inspection.

What Documents Do You Need When Installing New Plumbing?

There are three important documents you need to supply to your local plumbing and drainage authority. They are:

Notice of Work (NoW): completed by the plumber or drainer and sets out the work period and type of work.
Certificate of Compliance (CoC): must be filled out for all completed plumbing and drainage work to confirm that work has been completed and complies with current legislation.
Sewer Service Diagram (SSD): a layout of the onsite house service line.

It is helpful to familiarise yourself with the process, however your plumber will be responsible for filling out the forms.
